Dalle Khursani (Indian)

For many “pepperheads”, the introduction of the bhut jolokia, or Ghost Pepper, was a very welcome discovery out of India. But even avid heat lovers would be forgiven for not knowing about the Dalle Khursani pepper, which is another pepper out of India that deserves much more attention. The fruity flavored pepper has a heat profile approaching the habanero but has soooo much more interesting flavors.

I was introduced to this pepper by a friend who’s family eats it as Dalle Khursani ko Achaa (pickled round chile). I loved the fruity flavor and immediately purchased seeds online to grow these in my garden. To make the sauce, I used most of the same spices found in the pickled condiment.
